Type E thermocouple wire is divided into extend-type and compensation-type according to the core material, normal type (VV) and heat-resistant type (FF, BB) according to the operating temperature, and normal class and precision class according to the accuracy decided by thermoelectric characteristics. In order to ensure measurement accuracy, the compensation wire with the same type code must be used between the thermocouple and the display instrument. It is not allowed to use ordinary copper wires and cables or compensation wires are not clear on their consistency.

Purpose of using a compensation wire

 

(1) Move the reference end of the thermocouple from the high temperature to the place where the ambient temperature is more stable.
(2) Save a lot of precious and rare metal materials used in the manufacture of thermal electrodes.
(3) The use of compensation wires is convenient for installation and laying of lines.
(4)Replacing the thermoelectrode with a compensation wire with a thicker diameter and a large conductivity can reduce the resistance of the thermocouple loop, which is conducive to measurement and automatic control.

 

Notes:All kinds of compensation wires can only be used with the corresponding type of thermocouple, that is, all kinds of thermocouples and the matching compensation wires must have the same thermoelectric characteristics within the specified temperature.
