It has the advantages of good temperature potential linear relationship, reliable thermal stability, and low price. Paired with display instruments, it can directly measure the temperature of liquids, vapors, and gas media. It can partially replace platinum rhodium thermocouples as ultra-high temperature measurement tools for high-tech metallurgical industries, high-temperature electronic thermoelectric system structural engineering, space transportation vehicles, and nuclear reactors.

The relationship between the thermoelectric potential of tungsten rhenium thermocouples and temperature is in accordance with the ZBN05003-88 scale, equivalent to the ASTME696-84 standard. It can be used within the range of 0-2300 ℃ in vacuum, reduction, and inert atmospheres. Tungsten rhenium thermocouples with special protective tubes can also be used for a long time in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1600 ℃, and their price is lower than that of platinum rhodium thermocouples.
